Hello Please can you explain why God, who in the Old Testament is portrayed as a vengful ruler who punishes his enemies, is so different to the loving father who gives forgiveness through Jesus in the New Testament?

why doesnt he show himself to everyone and only a few people?

Thanks. Great question. Repentance is also important concerning forgiveness and some people refuse to respond to God's offer of free forgiveness for all. So, God does forgive everything for everyone who is open to him.
