Funding

The Aldhelm Mission Fund is the dedicated fund for supporting new mission initiatives and fresh expressions of church in parishes, schools and the wider community in the Diocese of Salisbury. The Fund is intended specifically to encourage and resource creative thinking and risk-taking about new work and projects and to provide at least some of the resources needed to try different ways of mission in our parishes.

The emphasis is on supporting projects in new areas of work that connect the local church to the wider community but cannot be funded from local sources. The Fund cannot be used to support building projects, administrative or parish youth worker posts.

Since 2006, the Fund has supported over 50 local mission initiatives. Eleven local mission initiatives were supported by the Aldhelm Mission Fund in 2011 alone. In addition to continuation funding for existing projects, a further £74,150 was awarded, with awards ranging from £500 to £30,000. New projects included the Motcombe Messy Church project, Walk West Dorset, Barford Contemporary Worship and support for the Salisbury Deanery Schools Chaplaincy.

If you are planning a new mission venture or fresh expression of church in your community, contact the Secretary on 01722 411922 or email stephen.dawson@salisbury.anglican.org to find out if the Fund can help you, or download the Guidelines and Application Form from the 'Resources' box on the left (below 'In this section').

Information on other sources of mission funding can be found on the Stewardship Fundraising pages.
