Neil MacGregor and Bishops: Salisbury video
The Diocese of Salisbury has released a set of YouTube resources with a theme of ‘Citizenship’, featuring discussions between the Bishop of Salisbury, the Bishop of Sherborne and the Director of the British Museum, Neil MacGregor.
Topics covered include parallels between the ways that Churches and Museums foster community by bringing people from different backgrounds together; the way that British society has changed over time, including the rise of Islam; and lessons to learn for the future.
The Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam, said, “Neil MacGregor is one of the most distinguished museum Directors in the world. The overlap between his experience and ours as clergy is remarkable. I am grateful for his enthusiastic willingness to engage with our Clergy Day."
The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, said, “The three way discussions were great fun. Neil is one of Britain's leading public intellectuals and his thoughtful, vibrant faith bubbles quietly through the interviews."
The five clips were recently shot at Bryanston School, Dorset, during the annual diocesan Clergy Day. They form part of an ongoing series entitled ‘Worth Listening To...’, featuring discussions on a variety of topics with speakers who are experts in their field.
