Sarum St Michael Educational Charity Bursary

New funding for RE student teachers

If you are seeking funding for your further or higher education, or if you work in an educational organisation, this Salisbury-based charity may be able to help.

The Sarum St Michael Educational Charity is a trust formed from the assets of an Anglican college of education that closed in 1979. The Governors aim to advance the work in education originally done by the college.

The range of possible grants is considerable. Individuals ineligible for student loans can apply for grants to help them pursue their further education. The Charity will consider the proposed course of study and how it will help the applicant pursue his or her career and in the service of others. Grants have been awarded for those studying for academic courses, including clergy, and for many different vocational qualifications.

Generous bursaries are available to intended teachers of Religious Education in both primary and secondary sectors. Those over the age of 16 doing a gap year whether abroad or in the UK may apply. Schools are helped to pay for resources for teaching RE and parishes for books and equipment for Sunday schools and youth clubs.

Grants are made within a geographical area of the Diocese of Salisbury and adjacent dioceses. Schools and parishes must be based in the Diocese of Salisbury.
