Cathedral Education Centre
Cathedral’s Mission Statement for Education:
spiritual growth
Based in the atmospheric Wren Hall within the Cathedral Close, the Cathedral’s education department has been in existence for over fifteen years. In addition to the four members of staff, there are around 80 volunteers who regularly give their time to help deliver the educational programmes offered to visiting individuals and groups.
StaffHead of Education, full time all year
Educational Visits Co-ordinator, term time only
Teaching Officer, part time
Education Centre Caretaker, part time
Educational Programmes
A wide-ranging programme of educational activities, workshops and events runs throughout the entire year. The Cathedral is a unique resource and the team at the Education Centre provides a service for visiting individuals, families and groups to encourage engagement with its religious and spiritual life, its history, heritage and art. Whilst the level of provision for schools and colleges remains a significant part of the work, one in four of the visits or events is for older learners, families and adults.
Within the educational provision there are four subject areas of particular focus and expertise:
Religious education and spirituality
History
Art and architecture
Citizenship and social justice
