Wiltshire Ride and Striders

The award for the winning Wiltshire Ride and Stride 2022 team was handed out this month to the group who made the biggest contribution to the event.

The annual Wiltshire Ride and Stride event took place earlier last year on 10 September where teams from around Wiltshire took part on bike, foot, or horseback to tour the areas stunning historic churches and help secure their futures by raising money for their upkeep and renovation.

Chairman of the event, Mark Everall, present the coveted Brooke Cup to the winning team from St Andrew's Church, Wootton Rivers for the second year in a row. Along with the splendid trophy, the team also received a cash prize and a whole heap of congratulations for their contributions towards keeping Wiltshire's historic churches alive.

The Wiltshire Ride and Stride initiative has raised over £1.6 million since its inception in 1984, with 50% of the money raised going towards the participants chosen church and the other half being received by the County Historic Churches Trust.

This year's Ride and Stride event might be a little way off, but it's never too early to start planning your routes or gathering a team of participants!
