About The Role
The Sherborne Area Office is based at Ash Farm Courtyard, Stourpaine, Dorset DT11 8PW. The office serves the needs of the Bishop of Sherborne and the Archdeacons of Dorset and Sherborne in their ministry throughout the Sherborne area, which comprises most of Dorset (and a small part of Devon). The office deals with the daily administration for the Bishop and Archdeacons, including being the first line of advice for churchwardens and clergy.
The Area Office is the administration centre for the Sherborne area. Work includes clergy appointments, managing the diaries of the Bishop and Archdeacons, keeping data bases up to date, organising visitations, liaising with parishes in vacancy and coordinating ministry reviews.
The Archdeacons work closely with the Bishop in the pastoral care of clergy, and have particular legal responsibilities around appointments, church buildings and pastoral reorganisation. Click here for more information on the Bishop of Sherborne and the Archdeacons.
