Addiction and Spirituality

Theme: Spirituality and Addiction led by Jean Boulton-Reynolds

Theme: Spirituality and Addiction led by Jean Boulton-Reynolds
It is quite likely that we have amongst those to whom we minister at least one person who is caught in addiction in one of its many forms. How much do we understand about the nature of addiction? Why is spirituality seen by many as an important concept in addiction treatment? How can faith based spirituality contribute to an effective recovery for those suffering with addiction?

It is hoped that the workshop will encourage participants to explore the often misunderstood world of addiction. It will be of particular interest to those involved in parish ministry, chaplaincy, and pastoral care.

Jean Boulton-Reynolds has been a parish priest since 1996 and subsequently trained as an Addiction Counsellor. For ten years she was on the staff team of a residential alcohol treatment centre in South London where she was additionally responsible for the spiritual aspect of the treatment programme.
