Boundaries in Pastoral Care

LPAs may work with those who are vulnerable and going through challenging times of life, often supporting people with emotional and mental health needs. This workshop will give an insight into the psychological reasons why boundaries are an essential element to pastoral care. It will examine why people can become dependent on pastoral support and will give an opportunity to explore how to set and maintain appropriate boundaries.

Jo is Team Vicar at Emmanuel and St Mary’s church in Weymouth. Prior to ordination Jo worked as a Registered Mental Health Nurse for fifteen years. She specialised in Forensic Mental Health, working with violent and sex offenders and people who presented with significantly challenging behaviour.

Darren is an LPA at Emmanuel and St Mary’s Church. He works as a Registered Mental Health Nurse on an acute assessment unit with adults of working age. He also has significant experience working in child and adolescent Mental Health Services.
