Rural Ministry and Mission Day

For the Beauty of the Earth

For the Beauty of the Earth
The theme of this year’s Rural Ministry & Mission Day is the environment and our stewardship as Christians of God’s creation. The Rural Day comes at a timely moment with the future of the global environment very much in the news. Our bishop, the Rt. Revd Nicholas Holtam, the Church’s lead bishop on environmental affairs, will be the keynote speaker, presenting an environmental theology combined with practical suggestions about what to do. There will be a seminar led by Jeremy Thomson on Environmental Ethics in the Old Testament. Jeremy is a Christian educator who seeks to build the church and equip people for creative discipleship.

As with 2019 Rural Day, there will be plenty of opportunities to participate in workshops and exchange ideas with people from other parishes around our Diocese. The environment is a key topic on which the Church can reach out and engage with the local community and the Rural Day will showcase lots of ideas on how to do this.
The Rural Day is open to all rural lay and ordained leaders.
