Hannah Services

by Michael Ford last modified 17 Apr, 2012 04:24 PM

Throughout March, Deaneries each held Hannah Services on the 2012 theme, 'Our gift? discover and celebrate'.

St John's Church in Warminster hosted the Heytesbury Deanery service led by Mothers' Union Diocesan President Ann Howard. Members from the Minster, St Johns, Westbury, Dilton Marsh and Mere all contributed to the service.

After the intercessions, members offered symbols of their gifts. Revd Denis Brett had invited Year 6 pupils from St Johns to sing Colours of day under a beautiful rainbow balloon arch.

Jack Withey, confirmed in January and the youngest Server and member of the Minster Cow;me Youth group was one of the choir.

Afterwards members moved round rainbow coloured prayer stations and attached different coloured ribbons to keepsake bookmarks.

In Heytesbury Deanery, members support families and children through baptism visiting, toddler groups and hearing children read in schools. They support holidays for needy families at their caravan in Durdle Door and through the MU holiday which this year is in Sidmouth in August. Some families from Warminster and Bratton are hoping to go.

MU members locally also suport marriage preparation, the Women's Refuge in Salisbury and work overseas with links in the Sudan and worldwide.

The morning concluded with a Lent Lunch in St John's hall provided by St John's parishoners.

Ann and the team then went off to the next service at Urchfont which was particularly well attended. Their deanery presented Mrs Howard with a basket of roses.
