A Big Fun Day Out

Salisbury Churches come together to host a fun day out on the farm right by the heart of the city on Saturday 14 September.

This is the time of year when churches’ thoughts turn to harvest, and thanking God for the wonders of his creation. Churches from across the Christian spectrum have come together to do just that – and have fun at the same time.

The Big Farm Day Out will take place at Riverbourne Community Farm in Laverstock. 16 local churches will be running a variety of stalls from games to competitions, which will operate alongside giant inflatables, tractor rides, meet the animals, and much more. Riverbourne Farm will be selling cream teas and providing a barbecue, but otherwise everything is free!

The event is being organised by Salisbury Churches Together on Saturday and will run from 2 pm until 7 pm on Saturday 14th September.

There will also be space to pray away from the busyness of the rest of the site.

Regular entertainment will be held in the Big Barn, and at 6 pm Roly the Clown will perform his special act of gospel clowning, before the site is handed over to the young people for a Youth Event at 7.30 pm.

Organisers are hoping that over 500 people of all ages will attend, and with no entrance charge it is hoped that the day will be accessible to people who might not normally be able to afford to attend an event like this.

“It’s a really exciting opportunity of the people of Salisbury to come together to celebrate Harvest in a wonderful setting,” says Captain Peter Clark, Chair of Churches Together. “With an emphasis on family and fun, we are expecting a wonderful day out together.”

All are welcome to attend this event at Cow Lane, Laverstock (just under the railway bridge, and less than a mile from the Market Cross). For SatNav users, the post code is SP1 2SR
