A Scientist Looks at the Bible *Updated

Professor Sir Ghillean Prance

Professor Sir Ghillean Prance is Scientific Director of the Eden Project and President of Christians in Science. ‘A Scientist Looks at the Bible’ is the last in a series of lectures at Sherborne Abbey marking the 400th anniversary of the publication of the King James Version of the Bible in 1611.

Prior to the lecture (which is to be attended by the Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset, Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers), Sir Ghillean will meet sixth formers from local schools for a question-and-answer session hosted by Sherborne Girls School.

The Vicar of Sherborne, Canon Eric Woods, said today ‘I am delighted to have a scientist of such international standing as Sir Ghillean at the Abbey, not only to reflect on the Bible, but to demonstrate that there is no incompatibility between being a top-flight scientist and a committed Christian.’
