The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings

He will begin a new season of ‘Grill a Bishop’ by speaking to Gryphon School pupils online on Wednesday morning and visiting several classes in the Woodroffe School, Lyme Bay, in the afternoon. Pupils can ask the Bishop any question they like.

He will preach at St Laurence Upwey on Sunday 2 October (10.30am) and give a blessing during the final outdoor Thanksgiving Service (3pm) at Lyme Regis Sea Front.

Team activities include door-to-door visiting, pub events, home meetings, assemblies and lessons in schools, church services, and market stalls offering prayers for passers-by.

‘An Evening of Colour’ on Thursday 29 September features Artist Daniel Cozens talking about his art, life and faith at St John’s Greenhill (7.30pm). There will be a Barn Dance on Friday 30 September (Charmouth Community Hall, 7pm) and a ‘Refresh’ dinner and music event on Saturday 1 October (Weymouth Bay Methodist Church, 7pm).

Dr Kings said, “This isn’t simply about putting on events: it’s about church folk, whatever their denomination, getting out there amongst the people. I take my mitre off to those who are sleeping on church floors and giving up their time to help and inspire others.”

Organiser David Baslington said, “This is a rural area, so we have been in a lot of small villages so far. It’s been a very good week already: we’ve been delighted by the welcome we’ve received.”
