Bishop Responds to Archbishop on Sudan *Updated

The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings

The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, has responded to the Archbishop of Canterbury's statement on South Kordofan, Sudan.

Dr Kings chairs the Diocese of Salisbury's link with the Episcopal Church of Sudan. He has been invited to be present with the Archbishop of Sudan in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, for its Independence Day on 9 July.

He said today: “I am very grateful for Archbishop Rowan's intervention and ask everyone to pray earnestly for the safety of the people of South Kordofan and in particular for Bishop Andudu of Kadugli and all his clergy and congregations.”

He added: “The Diocese of Salisbury is preparing to send emergency funds to Kadugli to assist those who have been affected by the outbreak of violence.”
