The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, said:

“This is an extraordinarily inspiring appointment for the Church of England, the nation and the Anglican Communion. Justin Welby is humble, prayerful, lucid and wryly perceptive”.

The Bishop of Ramsbury, Dr Edward Condry, said:

"I am delighted that Justin Welby has been chosen as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury. I have known him for many years. He is a man of deep wisdom and profound commitment to Christ, the Church and all God's people."
