New Chapter Clerk Jackie Molnar completes top level line up at Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral is moving into a new phase of development with three new key members of staff, including a new Chapter Clerk and Executive Director, taking the helm this autumn.

Jackie Molnar, currently the head of Bournemouth University’s Organisational Change Programme, takes over from Katrine Sporle as Executive Director and Chapter Clerk on 2nd November. She will be installed at the Cathedral on 15 November alongside Canon Dr Robert Titley, who will be installed as Canon Treasurer, replacing Dame Sarah Mullally.

The third member of the new team is Jane Morgan, Director of Communications and Development, who joined the Cathedral on 10 August this year. The trio will spearhead the formulation of the Cathedral Masterplan, working to the Dean and Salisbury Cathedral Chapter. The Master Plan is currently in draft and under public consultation until December 31st.

As Chapter Clerk and senior lay manager at Salisbury Cathedral, Jackie is responsible for advising on and overseeing the execution of the strategic policies delivered by the Cathedral's senior management team. She will work to secure the financial and structural future of the Cathedral and its surrounding buildings and ensure the completion of the 30-year-long Major Repair Programme, now in its final stage.

Amongst the issues embedded in the Master Plan that Jackie will be driving forward are the restructuring of the Works Yard for a new era and the bringing together of Magna Carta and the Cathedral Archives in order to make both accessible to academics and the general public.

Jackie said, “It’s a really interesting but challenging time to be joining the Cathedral, with a wide range of stakeholders and interested parties providing their feedback on the current Master Plan draft. Living locally I have always taken a great interest in the Cathedral, one of the finest English Cathedrals, and I look forward to helping forge a plan for its future and the future of other establishments within its stunning Close.

“I am also looking forward to working to the Dean of Salisbury and Chapter, supported by the new team including Canon Dr Robert Titley and Jane Morgan. Together, I hope we can ensure that the Cathedral remains at the heart of and in the hearts of the local community – and shines out as a beacon of Worship and Outreach to visitors and congregation alike.”

Dean of Salisbury, the Very Revd June Osborne, Dean of Salisbury, said, “Jackie joins us at a very exciting time and, as a fresh pair of eyes, her input to the draft Master Plan will be much appreciated. After a period of change we will go into the autumn with a vigorous new senior management line up and a team that brings a wide range of skills to our historic purpose as Salisbury’s Cathedral.

“As an organisation we have had a brilliant Magna Carta 800 year but we cannot afford to sit on our laurels and need ensure we continue to offer outstanding Worship, Outreach and visitor experience to our congregation, visitors, Close residents and all the people of Salisbury.”
