The Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam, will discuss the key elements of successful, growing churches at a gathering of over 100 representatives from parishes across Dorset and Wiltshire. The Diocesan Synod takes place at St Paul’s Church, Salisbury on Tuesday 19 June (6.30-9pm).

Synod will hear a report on the need for the appointment of an Archdeacon of Wilts – a member of the senior leadership team supporting Bishops in their pastoral and administrative support of parishes.

Delegates will also review and vote on the annual report and accounts for 2011 and the Draft 2013 Diocesan Budget.

The Diocesan Secretary, Lucinda Herklots, said, “This is an important Synod. Delegates will have the opportunity to express their views and ask questions as the Bishop develops his ideas on the future direction of the Diocese. There are long-term implications not only from this discussion, but also from the role of the Archdeacon of Wilts and the Budget.”
