Stephen Waine to make move along the South Coast for new challenge

The Archdeacon of Dorset, the Ven Stephen Waine, has been appointed the next Dean of Chichester. The announcement, made by 10 Downing Street this morning has been warmly welcomed by Bishop Nicholas.

“I am delighted for Archdeacon Stephen and the Diocese of Chichester”, said the Bishop, “where the Cathedral will make full use of his skills and abilities. Stephen has been an excellent Archdeacon of Dorset, so I am also sorry to be losing a good colleague. Doubtless we will all wish him every blessing for what lies ahead.”

Archdeacon Stephen added, “It has been a privilege to serve the Diocese of Salisbury for the past four years, and I will leave Dorset with happy memories and mixed emotions.

“At the same time, I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as Dean of Chichester and will be moving to Chichester in the New Year with a sense of excitement and huge privilege.”
