Let there be site!
Dynamic, Interactive New Website
The Diocese of Salisbury has unveiled its brand-new website on Friday 3 December 2010.
New features inside the website include updated navigation and document searches, as well as interactive maps for schools and parishes.
The front page features a news feed for up-to-the minute news, the latest stories and important updates, and links to galleries of pictures.
A collaboration between staff in diocesan offices and the Education centre, parish and youth workers, parish volunteers and clergy, the site has been eight months in the making.
Interactivity has been updated, with new facilities for blogs and forums, to aid discussion of topics with Bishops and others. The ‘Grill a Bishop’ forum in particular will enable discussion between the Bishop of Sherborne Dr Graham Kings and young people from the diocese.
Dr Kings said today: “This new website expresses everything we’re about as a diocese: forward-thinking, vibrant, Christ-centred, and interacting with the wider world with a message of hope.”
Diocesan Secretary Lucinda Herklots said: “A lot of work has been done to ensure that there is a better flow of news and resources to inform and inspire parishes, the public and the media alike. It’s a positive step forward as we face the challenges of the coming years.”
Diocesan Director of Education Chris Shepperd said: “This is an ambitious unifying website, bringing together the best from our former separate Education and Diocesan sites. Schools and parishes in Wiltshire, Dorset and Poole will be able to find the support and resources they need, and much more besides!”
