The Revd Paul Cowley, Executive Director of Alpha for Prisons, has praised church work done by hundreds of Christians across Dorset, saying “For me, it shows what just one person can do if they get along with God and they work together on things.”

Ex-offender praises Dorset Mission Trade Fair

The Revd Paul Cowley with the Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings

He remarked, “I didn’t realise there were going to be that many people here... I thought it might just be a small gathering, but it’s amazing the amount of stalls and mission-based organisations, so I’m quite overwhelmed with it, really.”

His comments were made during a video interview with the Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, at the Mission Trade Fair in St Nicholas Church Corfe Mullen on Saturday (24 November).

Mr Cowley addressed an estimated gathering of 180 at the centre, likening them to ‘modern-day heroes of the faith’ because of the work they were doing.

Dr Kings said, “These comments of Paul's are really exciting. He is an inspirational figure. The Mission Trade Fair has been a huge encouragement to all of us- not only the sheer number and breadth of the projects, but also the spirit of those involved in them. If you think ‘Things have got to change’ then let’s change them, together. Let’s get involved.”
