The Bishop of Salisbury, Nicholas Holtam, gave practical suggestions to parishes in his ‘Thought for the Month’, saying, “Be imaginative and generous and have fun doing it! What I am looking for in the celebration of Christmas is joyful simplicity. I hope we all have a very happy Christmas.”

He will preside at the Christmas Eve Eucharist in Salisbury cathedral (11.30pm), and preach there on Christmas Day (10.30am).

The Bishop of Sherborne, Dr Graham Kings, will *preside and preach at St Mary's, Iwerne Minster's Midnight Holy Communion (11.30pm) and* preach in St Peter’s, Poole, on Christmas Day (10am).

Blandford Forum’s spectacular Yuletide Festival includes a Christmas Market, a lantern parade, marching bands, street performers, children’s choirs and a firework display (Wednesday 14 December, 6-9pm).
