'Love Your Neighbour' for Lent

by Michael Ford last modified 29 Jan, 2021 01:37 PM

As we approach a Lockdown Lent, the Send a Cow charity is asking church and youth groups to embrace technology to support work with refugees, including South Sudanese, in Uganda.

'Love Your Neighbour' for Lent

Hellen and her family are part of the local Ugandan community in Palabek Settlement.

This Lent, Send a Cow is asking churches to ‘Love Your Neighbour’ in support of refugee work in Uganda.

Send a Cow’s Ann Hatton says:

“Our resources are designed to help churches get together remotely, have fun and support our refugee projects.

“Get social, bring hope and raise funds by holding a virtual coffee morning on Zoom! To make it different from your normal Zoom meetings, invite a Send a Cow speaker to join you - we can tell you about our refugee projects and your guests can ask as many questions they like - all socially distanced!

“Challenge your youth group to host a virtual quiz for the whole church in support of refugee families. We’ve got lots of resources to help your youth group get started with their Quiz Night Fun event. Download your Bible reflection and Quiz suggestions at”

Send a Cow is currently working with 3 refugee settlements in Uganda, including the Palabek Refugee Settlement in northern Uganda. This Settlement is unique and unlike traditional camps – South Sudanese refugees live side by side with the local community.

‘Love Your Neighbour’ for Lent- Rose

Send a Cow is working with families like Rose’s (Rose is pictured above) to provide extensive training so they can learn how to grow plentiful food. With your help, we can also provide the seeds and tools families need to harvest nutritious vegetables, just a few weeks after sowing!

Just £104 could provide training for 4 families to help make a house a home by building key household items including: an energy saving stove, a clean latrine and a tip tap hand-washer.
