National Day of Reflection

by Michael Ford last modified 06 Mar, 2021 02:03 AM

The National Church is joining Marie Curie, Hope UK, Care for the Family, Ataloss and many other charities and organisations on the 23rd March to take a minute to reflect and a moment to connect.

The Church of England's Mission Network News says:

"It’s a great moment to stand with our local communities and pause for a minute at noon, perhaps send a simple prayer card to a grieving family, or bless your local care home with kindness. The message is framed as reflect, support and hope, which also provides a way for churches to share prayers and thoughts on social media and with families on that day.

"A small selection of resources will be available from 9th March including a simple family prayer. Look out for more ideas on Marie Curie’s websit as well as the Church of England."

Marie Curie Chief Executive Matthew Reed says:

“We need to mark the huge amount of loss we’ve seen this year and show support for everyone who has been bereaved in the most challenging of circumstances. We cannot simply stand by and not recognise the effects the pandemic has had on the bereaved. We know people are in shock, confused, upset, angry and unable to process what has happened.

“The National Day of Reflection on 23rd March gives us a moment to reflect, remember and celebrate the lives of everyone that has died, as well as show our support to family, friends and colleagues who are bereaved during these challenging times – from Covid and other causes.”
