One in a million

by Michael Ford last modified 24 Sep, 2021 11:18 PM

Mary Gange, The Children Society's Diocesan Ambassador for our Diocese, has retired.

Relationship Manager Gill Ford says:

"Many of you across the Salisbury Diocese know Mary well and I would like to thank you her so very much for all the time and commitment that she consistently gave so generously to The Children’s Society for many years. She has been a tremendous asset as Diocesan Ambassador for Salisbury Diocese for more than 15 years but also committee chair, speaker, events organiser and even secured Salisbury Golf Club charity of the year partnership.

"Mary has travelled the length and breadth of the Diocese, freely giving her time wherever and whenever needed with her warm, positive and supportive personality.

"Mary attended events in London, supported our committees and support groups, met with key people within the Church and the community and has been a wonderful support, friend and help to me. Mary has supported so much within the Diocese including a huge afternoon tea hosted by Bishop Nicholas, our thankyou event in the Cathedral Close, and, of course, our flagship 50th Anniversary Christingle service at Salisbury Cathedral in the presence of our Royal President.

"I am delighted to say that Mary hasn’t retired completely and will be staying on as a Christingle speaker which is wonderful.

"Thank you so so much Mary!"

Gill adds:

"If anyone is interested in taking on the role of Diocesan Ambassador for Salisbury or Diocesan Ambassador for the Bristol Diocese then do please contact me for more information.

"Across the country we have a staff team of 12 Community Relationship Managers who promote the work of The Children’s Society to local communities and inspire people to take action to transform the lives of young people.

"To ensure we meet our goal of overturning the damaging decline in children’s well-being, we need to increase our reach. We’re looking for a volunteer Diocesan Ambassador to play a vital role in helping us reach current and new audiences, raise awareness and generate income to continue moving closer to our goal.

"Ambassadors will seek out opportunities to speak to, and build relationships with committees, churches, clergy, community groups, schools, organisations and businesses, raising awareness of our work and encouraging action through giving, prayer, campaigning and volunteering.

"In addition to public speaking opportunities, you may attend events on our behalf, such as business networking meetings, fundraising events, community fetes, galas and more.

"The role will involve working closely with myself and I have a full role profile that I can share. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in finding out more about this role, please contact me on 01380 726410 or email ."
