The effects of the coronavirus epidemic on the local community means foodbanks are under more pressure than ever to help those most in need.

As residents’ income is hit and essential items become harder to source, volunteers from foodbanks across the Diocese have been working around the clock to ensure those struggling have enough to eat.

You can help by donating much-needed essentials to the foodbank by dropping them off at your nearest collection points.

Items that are particularly needed this week include tomato pasta sauce, UHT full milk and UHT semi-skimmed milk, packets of biscuits, cream crackers, squash, tins of corned beef, ham and Spam, tinned tuna, packets of microwave rice, tinned meat meals to heat, tinned soup, soap or liquid soap, toilet paper, and sweets for Easter.

Packages are available for those in short-term food crisis who must be referred to the foodbank by one of the official referrers, which includes medical centres.
