Lychett Minster Parish Church to complete repairs to the main entrance of the beautiful church building, which dates back to the fifteenth century. Local fundraising activities were generously assisted by grants from the Dorset Historic Churches Trust and Erskine Muton Trust.

Once the specification had been drawn up by Poole-based RLM Architects, work to remove and completely replace the old porch roof at the main entrance was carried out by Matrod Frampton building contractors. The roof had deteriorated over time and had become unsafe. Now smart and fully secure, the new roof is a real asset to the entrance of the church.

Stuart Turvey, Poole Deanery Representative for the Dorset Historic Churches trust, said, “The Trust was delighted to be able to award this grant to Lychett Minster, in order for the important repair work to the porch roof to be completed. The porch is integral for access to the church, so it was very important to ensure it was safe and secure.”

Church Warden at Lychett Minster, Margaret Stevens, added, “We are very grateful for the donations from Dorset Historic Churches Trust, Erskine Muton the fundraising activities of local parishoners. Stuart’s support and encouragement was invaluable throughout the repair work. We’re delighted with the new porch roof, it looks fantastic and it’s a real relief to have it sorted.”
