Our Diocesan Registrar has died suddenly and unexpectedly at home.

It is with the deepest sadness that we have learned of the death of Andrew Johnson our Diocesan Registrar.

Andrew died suddenly and unexpectedly at home. He was a much loved figure in the Diocese, a gifted lawyer with a warm, humorous and open-hearted nature.

The Right Revd Nicholas Holtam, Bishop of Salisbury, said, “It was with deep sadness and loss that I heard of the death of Andrew Johnson, our Diocesan Registrar since 1997.

“Andrew was an outstanding ecclesiastical lawyer and both my predecessor and I are deeply in his debt for the sage advice which he gave. A deeply committed Christian and churchman, he practised the law in a pastoral manner and made a huge impact on this diocese.

“Above all else, however, Andrew was a lovely man and I shall miss him as a personal friend. May he rest in peace and rise in glory.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Sally and his daughters, Rebecca and Catriona, and their families.”
