"Thanks be to God for our partners"

by Michael Ford last modified 14 May, 2021 07:55 PM

The latest newsletter from the Episcopal Church of Sudan gives fresh insights into the current situation in that northeast African country.

Beginning with the Bishops and their wives' retreat and church business, reference was made to the recent work of the Episcopal Development, Relief and Rehabilitation Agency (EDARRA*), which includes Covid-19 relief food distribution in Kadugli, El Obeid, Khartoum, Port Sudan, and Medani.

During 2017 and 2018, the Salisbury-Sudans Partnership Link helped fund the establishment of EDARRA, and now that the Agency has a new Executive Director, aims to support it further, as funds become available.

Editorial comments included:

"The Covid-19 Pandemic made life very difficult in Sudan like all other countries. Thanks be to God for our partners who were able to provide assistance in order to support people in need."

This Diocese was among those thanked.

In other news, Canon Fajak Avagani has won the position of Assistant Bishop for the Diocese of Khartoum - 25th July 2021 is the date set for his consecration - and the Revd Daniel Musa has been appointed as the Dean of All Saints Cathedral.

*NB: please note incorrect titling on page 3: EADRR, the Episcopal Agency for Development, Relief and Rehabilitation is actually still EDARRA.
