A Service of Thanksgiving for the life of Bishop John Kirkham will be held in Salisbury Cathedral at 2.30pm on Friday the 15th of November.

Clergy and LLMs attending are invited to robe in choir dress. In order to help the cathedral with numbers, please let Sally Ruffer () know if you are intending to robe.

Before becoming Bishop of Sherborne and Bishop to the Armed Forces, Bishop John had been chaplain to The Right Revd Lancelot Fleming, Bishop of Norwich, then to Archbishop Michael Ramsey and then to his successor, Archbishop Donald Coggan. The previous announcement incorrectly referred to a brief illness. In fact Bishop John had been unwell for about a year and he died at home where Hester had been caring for him.
