'The Villages' Places Fourth

The Parish Magazine of Oldbury Benefice has come fourth in the National Parish Magazine Awards.

The awards have been run by Parish Mag Printers, based in Salisbury, since 2008.

'The Villages' came first in Wiltshire and was particularly commended by judges for being "a magazine with a good variety of content."

Chief editor Paul Mackie said, "We decided that we wanted the magazine to appeal to non-churchgoers, to be more entertaining with quizzes, stories and feature articles, but still with the Christian content."

The awards have been run since 2008. They are divided into five categories:

  • Best Design - Focuses on any artwork within the magazine, page layout and use of graphics.
  • Best Content - The variety of articles, use of photos and general information included.
  • Best Editor - Order of content, variety, accuracy and interest value.
  • Best Print - Quality of printing and finishing of the magazine.
  • Best Overall Magazine - A general overview of all the above categories.

Certificates are presented to each category winner.
