Three “phenomenal” years

by ajack last modified 08 Dec, 2021 04:51 PM

It’s the end of an era this week as Diocesan Director of Communications Carole Peters-King steps down after three years of intensive, dedicated work.

Tasked with taking Diocesan Communications forward, Carole drew on her background as a BAFTA-nominated filmmaker to bring a fresh emphasis on video and visual flair.

Her background as a Rector of rural parishes in Peterborough Diocese also informed her ‘story-led’ approach.

During the Covid lockdowns, with many isolated and having to turn to Zoom and other digital tools, Carole saw our information and news engagement reach new heights.

As the almost-monthly Grapevine magazine merged with the weekly e-Bulletin to become a news weekly, parish and schools stories poured in, renewing hope at a time when it was much needed.

Bishops took to social media as never before, drawing acclaim for their online services, sermons and weekly thoughts.

And Carole’s compiling of the Advent Calendar each year showcased much of the work of the entire Diocese in just 24 days, celebrating compassion, ingenuity and heartfelt dedication to the way of Christ.

Her advice and good judgement has been invaluable for safeguarding, media handling, and parishes seeking support. As a priest with the Bishop’s Permission to Officiate, she has led services in local churches, person to person, with characteristic sensitivity and finesse.

With a high benchmark set, and one digital strategist describing her work as “phenomenal”, Diocesan Communications will continue to evolve as Carole departs.
