Presented by Revd Bryony Taylor, Rector of Barlborough and Clowne, Diocese of Derby and adviser on our Virtual Christingle guide, Revd Matt Tarling, Vicar of St Paul’s Spennymoor, Diocese of Durham, Victoria Bush, primary school teacher and author of our Christingle resources for schools, Tracey Messenger, Church Engagement Manager (Resources) at The Children’s Society and Nicola Gampell, Senior Innovation Officer, The Children’s Society.
Christingle has always been about bringing people together and embracing hope during the festive season, and in 2020, the spreading of hope feels especially important as we Pray, Serve and Grow through The Diocese of Salisbury and beyond!
The Children’s Society have created lots of new resources to help schools (and parishes) hold a safe and memorable celebration. These include:
- The link to the 1 minute Christingle promotional video
- The link to the 1.5minute link to encourage donations during a virtual service Christingle video
- Flexible Christingle/Doing Christingle differently - Vimeo link (watch from 24.35mins to 32mins to hear teacher Victoria talk about Christingle in schools – see the resources she has created here - Primary School Christingle Planning document and Collective Worship Planning document and from 47mins her ideas of how to manage fundraising in school)
- All Christingle resources available, including paper Christingle bags and donation envelopes
- Registration and fundraising page where your event can register for a QR code for online donations
- Suitable songs/hymns for an online Christingle Service
Finally the Church of England is running a weekly church service and a Christingle national service will be held on 13th December from 9am which you can encourage families to watch/you can follow up the following week as it will be available to be streamed from the Children’s Society page and CofE page.
