On 4 November 2015, the Diocesan Education Centre in Wilton welcomed internationally acclaimed children’s author and storyteller Bob Hartman, who travelled from the US for the fourth annual Open the Book Conference.

Barbara Meardon, School/Parish Partnership Team Manager at the Diocesan Board of Education, who organised the event, said:

“Open the Book is a charity that organises volunteer groups from parishes to go into primary schools to share stories from the Bible as part of their collective worship.

"There are over 80 schools and parishes across Wiltshire and Dorset working with Open the Book, with thousands of local children experiencing the wonder of amazing stories told in a way that truly brings them to life.

“We were thrilled that so many parishes within the dioceses were able to come to our fantastic centre in Wilton and have the opportunity to hear Bob Hartman talk more about the skills of storytelling.

"He was an incredibly energetic and dynamic speaker and the enthusiasm he brought inspired us all.”
