Bulgarian Shoe Box Appeal celebrates a big anniversary

by Michael Ford last modified 18 Feb, 2019 11:14 PM

To mark ten years since the Trussell Trust founded the Foundation for Social Change and Inclusion (FCSI) in Bulgaria and started their Shoe Box appeal, they are holding a charity concert at St Paul’s Salisbury.

The concert will also be a chance for the charity, which is widely supported by schools in Wiltshire and Dorset, to tell the story of how the FSCI came about and the vital difference it is making in the lives of many very special, highly vulnerable people.

Over 100,000 Shoe Boxes have been distributed in Bulgaria in the past decade, thanks to donations from school children. Chris Mould, the Chief Executive of FSCI, said:
“We aim to launch the FSCI 10th Anniversary Fund at the concert. Throughout our 10th Anniversary year, we’ll be inviting people to donate or pledge, with a view to building up a substantial financial resource to act as the fuel that fires us into a new decade of expanded and ever more impactful activity.

“We want as many people as possible to join us on 2 March, to give thanks and to celebrate. It would be fantastic if you could bring along people you think would be interested: colleagues, friends, neighbours?”

The programme will include performances by professional singer Chen Wang, singer-songwriter Laura Goldthorp, local band Becoming Branches and stories of lives transformed.
