Marlborough Moves to 'Outstanding'

by Michael Ford last modified 01 Jul, 2015 11:14 AM

Great progress is being made at St Mary's Church of England Voluntary Controlled Infants School.

The SIAMS inspector singled out distinctiveness, effectiveness at meeting learners' needs and leadership as being outstanding, noting that St Mary's is:

"A hugely inclusive school where the Christian ethos is deeply embedded, articulated and acted upon by all resulting in the openness and confidence of pupils when talking about their genuine enthusiasm and care for their friends, all the staff and their school"

"Enhanced by areas of quiet and reflection, used and valued by pupils and adults"

And has "excellent links with the local churches, clergy and the wider community"

St Mary's is a smaller than average infant school with 141 pupils on roll. The school includes a specialist Complex Needs Resource Base housing seven statemented pupils. An amalgamation with the nearby Junior school is due for September 2016, with a new building planned and significant changes due to affect pupils, parents, staff and governors.
