Outstanding Aims at Tisbury

New Headteacher at St John’s Primary School, Tisbury sets her sights on an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating.

New Headteacher Lisa Portch, who has already taught at St John’s, describes it as "An amazing school that has fully embraced a creative curriculum, where the children have a unique attitude to learning as well as exceptional behaviour – they really care for and look after each other."

From September 2015, Mrs Portch hopes to build on the strong foundations and ethos already in place at St John’s, forging ahead to take the school from a ‘Good’ rating at the last Ofsted inspection in 2011 to ‘Outstanding’ in the future.

Asked if he had any advice for Mrs Portch, outgoing Headteacher Lee Chandler said: "The best advice I can give Lisa is to enjoy the job, it can be tough at times but it's also the best job in the world! Any difficult decision that needs to be made becomes easy when you remember that the children come first."

Mr Chandler has been at the school since 2009, transforming the learning environment and raising the school from a previous ‘Satisfactory’ ranking. He moves on to Berrow Primary School in North Somerset.
