Recorder Magic

by Michael Ford last modified 29 Aug, 2014 02:50 PM

A report from Wilton and Barford Primary School

Nerves were high in Emerald Class on the morning of Wednesday 4th July 2012.

Over the previous school year on each Wednesday, Mrs Shakespeare, from Wiltshire Music Service, had joined Emerald Class to sprinkle a weekly dose of musical recorder magic.

All of their hard work had come down to this final performance....

The School hall was packed...

This was very different to the usual classroom based weekly recorder session!

“Gentle Breeze” peacefully soothed the audience early on, with the rather fitting “Rainy days” following. Air guitars even made an appearance during “Rocking Recorders”. The lights dimmed for the eerie class favourite; “Spooky Blues”. The concert was brought to a close with the lively and bouncy “Match Day”.

Mr Neave & all of Emerald Class would like to thank Mrs Shakespeare for her time over the past year and also to Wilton Rotary Club for very kindly donating money to the school, to help buy the recorders.

The pupils of Emerald class hope to have the opportunity for Mrs Shakespeare to join them again in September and lots of others are very keen to learn!
