Residents at Montrose Care Home enjoying messages from pupils

During a rather different festive period, over 700 pupils at St Osmund's School in Dorset brought some cheer to residents of local care homes. Each one of the 720 pupils wrote a message on a heart to let those who may have been unable to see family over the festive season know that they were thinking of them.

Karis Clifton, Activities Coordinator at Montrose Care Home, spoke of the joy that the messages had brought to residents. "The residents absolutely loved reading what the students wrote for them and we turned them into bunting styled decorations to go on our bookcase in our dining room!"

Saira Sawtell, the Headteacher at St Osmund's, said that the 'inter-generational joy' was wonderful to see.

In these strange and, for many of us, rather difficult times, it is inspiring to see the younger generation looking out for the older one, and bringing them comfort and happiness.
