A Welcoming School Gathering In Wimborne

by Michael Ford — last modified 25 Nov, 2015 03:31 PM

Last month [October 2015] children, staff, parents and governors at Wimborne St Giles First School joined together for their Harvest festival in the church.

The church bell ringing team started the morning off in fine style as pupils, parents and members of the local community gathered to give thanks. The service included contributions from the children themselves.

During the celebrations, the school and wider community, including Mark Stratta from Salisbury Diocesan Board of Education, welcomed new Headteacher, Miss Philippa Hattersley, in a special Commissioning service led by the Revd David Paskins.

Parents commented on the sense of family that was present throughout the morning and felt that the words spoken in the Commissioning were very moving. Miss Hattersley said, “It was a really special day and I feel privileged to be a part of the school community here.”
