On Wednesday 20 September, Bishop Nicholas visited Wilton and Barford Primary School to bless their new extension.

Over the past nine months, Wilton and Barford has had extensive building works, adding much-needed extra space for this friendly and growing school. The site now has a purpose built Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) classroom, new cloakroom facilities, two refurbished classrooms and a studio for music tuition, drama and dance.

The new space allows for single age classes throughout the school, as well as extra space for curriculum enriching learning experiences. Outdoor space is also being improved with new fencing, tree planting and playground improvements being made.

Headteacher Jan Nock says, “Wilton and Barford Primary School has established and committed staff that are dedicated to developing the whole child. All children in Years 4 and 5 receive viola tuition and pupils in Year 6 learn to play the violin. Sport’s coaches from Southampton Football Club visit twice a week and also run before school, lunchtime and after school clubs.

“The school is very proud of its successes. Key Stage 2 results in 2017 were the best ever and are at national standards whilst those in Key Stage 1 are above local and national standards. The school’s values of Care Respect and Trust and fully embedded in all that they do.

“Wilton and Barford CE VC Primary School is a welcoming, inclusive community, where everyone is Inspired to learn from each other and from the world we share.

“Every day is Open Day!”
