Winterslow meets an Archdeacon

by Michael Ford last modified 06 Oct, 2017 10:26 AM

If you've seen the 'Rev' sitcom, you may wonder if Archdeacons ride in taxis and wear gloves. Poppy, Hannah, India and Aimee in Year 3 at Winterslow Primary School met one, and said:

Winterslow meets an Archdeacon

Archdeacon Alan Jeans at Winterslow Primary

"The Archdeacon visited our new Headteacher, Mrs Bone and had a tour of our great school. It felt really exciting. We were waiting for him whilst he visited other classes and we were nervous.

"When he finally got to our class he unveiled our painting of Jesus. He was so kind and asked good questions. He loved our art work, especially the paintings around the edge that show the stories that Jesus has taught us."

The Archdeacon in question, Alan Jeans, said:

"Visiting our Church schools is one of the joys of an Archdeacon, and meeting the children and staff at Winterslow was just wonderful. The enthusiasm and learning in every class was obvious. I look forward to a return visit soon."
