Distinctive and Effective Worship Header

Collective Worship is the cornerstone of church school community life. It should make a difference to the children and adults who engage with it in whatever format. Through our core and bespoke training opportunities we seek to work with you to develop excellence in the delivery of Collective Worship in all phases of Primary and Secondary education.

We have a range of bespoke training opportunities, including the following:

Developing class based Collective Worship

A practical workshop to support staff teams in developing their knowledge understanding and skills in leading class based worship. Many schools now recognise that class based worship enables them to bring a depth of impact to their worship provision with great effectiveness. This course is offered to support schools in the development of this work.

Creative approaches to prayer and reflection

A practical session which will explore the centrality of prayer and reflection within a church school context. The focus will be on different models of prayer and we will explore a range of reflective and creative approaches.

Collective Worship: what the inspector is looking for

This course will develop a strong understanding of the collective worship section of the SIAMS framework. This will be a highly practical session as we conduct a paper based mock inspection of a church school. You will have the opportunity to share ideas and discussion and look at resources.

Involving pupils in planning, leading and evaluating Collective Worship

This area is the most frequent area of development for schools in this Diocese from SIAMS inspection. We will consider the importance of involving pupils in the leading and evaluating of collective worship and explore practical ways to facilitate this.

Leading and delivering high quality Collective Worship - policy and practice

This course will look across collective worship practice, identifying what makes great worship in policy and practice and exploring practical ideas for achieving it.
