In May 2026, more than 40 people from churches across Wiltshire gathered in Wilsford near Pewsey for an inspiring Churches of Wiltshire event organised by Clarissa Reilly.
Parish representatives shared ideas, experiences and practical ways churches can strengthen both their mission and the sustainability of their buildings, including successful fundraising events and ways to engage local communities through shared learning.
Churches also discussed how to make better use of resources by sharing equipment and skills, applying more intentionally for grants, opening church buildings more fully as community spaces and creating activities that appeal to all ages.
Every year, churches throughout Wiltshire and Dorset are involved with Ride + Stride, run by the Wiltshire and Dorset Historic Churches trusts and taking place this year on 12 September.
Running at the same time, 11-20 September, is Heritage Open Days, which this year has the theme Everyday Histories, and we're encouraging our churches to get involved!
