St John's Jersey Sea Sunday service

St John's in Jersey marked Sea Sunday on 19 July with a service celebrating everyone who works at sea and those who keep us safe on the water. The service was led by Revd Beverley Sproats, with around 70 people attending.

Crew Commander Thomas O'Donoghue spoke about the work of the States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service, and how closely they work with the emergency and rescue services. It was great to have those services join in the day.

After the service, Revd Beverley went out on a lifeboat in the harbour to bless the boats – a real highlight of the day. A collection was also taken in support of local maritime charities.

It was a team effort to put together, and lovely to see the church working together with so many different groups from across the island, supported by the Parish of St John.
