If you are interested in becoming a churchwarden, your first step is to approach your vicar. They can talk to you about the role in your particular church context and can let you know when the next annual meeting is for the appointment of churchwardens. Churchwardens hold office for one year at a time, normally for up to six years maximum, but this may vary in practice.
Anyone wishing to become a churchwarden must:
• Be baptised
• Be on the electoral roll of their parish
• Be a communicant
• Be age 21 or over
You can find the Nomination for Churchwarden form here or on the Church of England’s Parish Resources website.
