Team Vicar of Sherborne and Chaplain to The Gryphon School

by Vicky James last modified 25 Apr, 2022 01:53 PM expired

We are looking for a Team Vicar in the Sherborne Team with responsibility for St Paul’s Church, who will also be the next chaplain to The Gryphon School, and play a full part within the ministry team.

The Diocese of Salisbury

The role provides a significant opportunity to work with young people and to lead a thriving church community.  The Gryphon School is a pioneer in state school chaplaincy, and the Chaplain plays a major role in the life of the school. St Paul’s is in the open evangelical tradition, meets at The Gryphon for Sunday worship and uses the parish centre to serve a deprived area of Sherborne.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a passion for working with young people, pastorally sensitive and able to communicate with those on the fringes of church life
  • will enjoy working with other professionals to provide a school environment where all can thrive
  • is a team player, who will enjoy working with colleagues to make Christ known to Sherborne and surrounding villages in creative and pioneering ways
  • is able to relate to people of all ages and social backgrounds, in various church, school and community settings
  • is a clear communicator, teacher of the faith and enabler of discipleship

We offer a warm welcome, a vicarage within easy reach of The Gryphon School and the town centre, and supportive colleagues within the Sherborne team and the school community. To learn more about this unusual and exciting post please take a look at our parish profile:
