2x Non-executive Foundation Directors - Wiltshire

Salisbury Plain Academies is looking for two non-executive foundation directors with outstanding business skills, or experience of different education ecosystems, to join its board and support the Trust leadership in delivering improvement, growth and transformation across the schools.

The candidates are expected to have a strong interest in improving education outcomes and be able to support and challenge the CEO. Successful experience in managing a new or growing business, and/or driving sustainable efficiency and change programmes, and/or transforming outcomes of organisations, with an annual budget in excess of £10m, is highly desirable.

As a Trust that includes church schools, these board places are required to meet church foundation status and candidates will need to meet the following criteria:

  • Communicant members of the Church of England
  • Baptised individuals who regularly attend Church of England services
  • Members of a church which belongs to Churches Together in Britain and Northern Ireland
  • A Christian who does not belong to the churches listed above but is committed to the tenets of the Apostles’ Creed

The Trust is interested in candidates from commercial, third sector or public sector businesses as well as those who have connections with the local community. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their experience in one of more of the below skills/ disciplines. The appropriate individuals will be expected to maintain focus on what’s best for the whole trust and all its pupils. Candidates must be able and willing to hold others to account for their professional practice, to understand and analyse performance data and to take appropriate risks and consider dynamic and innovative options. The Trust is particularly keen to hear from business individuals with skills in HR/ Leadership, Business Growth, Legal/ Compliance, Multi-site Estates/ Property/ H&S, Communications/ Branding/ Marketing.

The board is keen for the new non-executive directors to join the board for the start of the new calendar year in January 2019.

Time commitment

Board meetings are held six times a year. Additionally, the new non-executive director will be expected to sit on at least one of the board committees, which are required to meet at least three times a year.
