Chairperson - Salisbury-Sudans Education Sub-committee

by Michael Ford last modified 23 Mar, 2018 05:07 PM

For over 40 years there has been a link between Salisbury and the Episcopal churches of Sudan and South Sudan. The link is likely to enter a new phase with the enthronement in April of Bishop Justin Badi.

We are seeking the right person to chair the important Education Sub-committee. We believe education and Christian faith are key to lasting peace and future prosperity.

The Sub-committee gives grants to a number of theological colleges in South Sudan, supports teacher training and secondary schools, and gives grants to Deaneries who are supporting educational work in Sudan and South Sudan.

The right person will

  • Have a living faith in Christ and a desire to serve Sudan and South Sudan
  • Understand the principles behind a link based on mutual respect and prayer
  • Be able to establish good working relationships with our African colleagues
  • Be able to chair a committee of committed people
  • Be able to keep financial oversight and write reports
  • Have some understanding of education
