Pilgrimages

by Michael Ford last modified 17 Apr, 2019 04:21 PM

Seasonal, one-off and all year round walks in parishes and further afield, with clergy and bishops.

We have two main pilgrimages in our diocese, devised by parishes. Others are often led by clergy, in association with established tour operators.

Celebrating St Aldhelm's Day with Bishop Karen
You are invited to join Bishop Karen on pilgrimage to the Norman Chapel at St Aldhelm's Head, one of Dorset’s most beautiful and historic clifftop spots, on the Feast of St Aldhelm.
We will celebrate with a simple Eucharist at 12 noon in the Chapel.
As in previous years, pilgrims are invited to bring a picnic to share on the cliffs (if weather permits), or at St Nicholas’ Worth Matravers (if the weather is typically English!).
The pilgrimage is open to everyone, whatever their religious views.
Pilgrims should assemble before 10.30am at the Renscombe Farm car park (postcode BH19 3LL). A rugged pathway leads for 1.5 miles (2.5 km) to St Aldhelm’s Chapel (capacity around 90). Dogs are welcome on the walk and in chapel.
